45 Nuggets of Wisdom From My Mentor Earl Nightingale

By Yemi | 10:58 PM | | Be the first to comment!

Earl Nightingale is one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever come across. When you read one of his books, or listen to one of his audio tapes, you discover that every other sentence is pure gold. The following 45 morsels of wisdom were taken from Earl Nightingale’s essay, “Lead the Field”.

1. “If the grass is greener on the other side it’s probably getting better care.”

2. “Each of us creates his or her own life largely by our attitude.”

3. “You can control your attitude. Set it each morning.”

4. “It is our attitude toward life that determines life’s attitude toward us. We get back what we put out.”

5. “Others treat us as we treat them. They react to us. They only give us back a reflection of our own attitude.”

6. “Most people begin their day in neutral. They will simply react to whatever confronts them.”

7. “Gratitude and expectancy are the best attitude.”

8. “. . . Our outlook on life is a kind of paint brush and with it we paint our world. It can be bright and filled with hope and satisfaction or it can be dark and gloomy. The world we experience is a reflection of our attitude.”

9. “Don’t take the attitude of waiting for people to be nice to you – be nice to them.”

10. “Be positive, cheerful, grateful and expectant.”

11. “Always keep that happy attitude. Pretend that you are holding a beautiful fragrant bouquet.”

12. “Don’t wait for change. You change.”

13. “Develop and project an attitude that says ‘yes’ to life.”

14. “You must radiate success before it’ll come to you.”

15. “Treat every person as the most important person on earth. To them, they are the most important person.”

16. “People don’t have great attitudes because of great success, they have great success largely because of great attitudes.”

17. “Don’t catch the bad and infectious attitudes of others.”

18. “Before you can achieve the kind of life you want you must think, act, talk, and conduct yourself in all of your affairs as would the person you wish to become.”

19. “Ask yourself every morning, ‘how can I increase my service today?’”

20. “Goals reflect your choice of destination.”

21. “Most people don’t know what they want. Do you?”

22. “Set worthy goals. Don’t drift along as a wandering generality. Be a meaningful specific.”

23. “Success is not a destination but a journey. Anyone who is on course toward a worthy goal is successful. Success does not lie in the achievement of a goal but in its pursuit. Success is a journey!”

24. “One thing a goal must do is fill us with positive emotion when we think about it. The more intensely we feel about a goal the more progressively we’ll move toward it.”

25. “Control your thoughts. Decide about that which you will think and concentrate upon. You are in charge of your life to the degree you take charge of your thoughts.”

26. “Spend one hour every day thinking about your goal and how to get there.”

27. “Don’t waste time thinking about needless things.”

28. “Whatever it is you seek in the form of rewards, you must first earn in the form of service. Each of us serves a portion of humanity, all those with whom you come in contact.”

29. “Every-time we use a product or service, someone is serving us.”

30. “Think not about future rewards but about present service.”

31. “Find what you can do best that renders service to others and do it with all your might.”

32. “Make the best use of what you have and what you are in the time you’ve been granted.”

33. “We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves.”

34. “Put in motion the right cause and the right effect will take care of itself.”

35. “Life can only return to you that which you sow. What do you have to sow? You have great wealth; you can think,
you have talent, and you have time.”

36. “Money is the harvest of our production and service. We in turn use it to obtain the production and service of others.”

37. “Money is an effect. It is the result of a cause, and the cause is valuable service.”

38. “We will receive not what we idly wish for but what we justly earn. Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service.”

39. “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”

40. “Failures . . . believe that their lives are shaped by circumstances … by things that happen to them … by exterior forces.”

41. “Think of a ship with the complete voyage mapped out and planned. The captain and crew know exactly where the ship is going and how long it will take — it has a definite goal. And 9,999 times out of 10,000, it will get there.”

42. “The human mind is much like a farmer’s land. The land gives the farmer a choice. He may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn’t care what is planted. It’s up to the farmer to make the decision. The mind, like the land, will return what you plant, but it doesn’t care what you plant.”

43. “Everything that’s really worthwhile in life came to us free — our minds, our souls, our bodies, our hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, our intelligence, our love of family and children and friends and country. All these priceless possessions are free.”

44. “Success is not the result of making money; earning money is the result of success — and success is in direct proportion to our service.”

45. “Your world is a living expression of how you are using and have used your mind.”

Introduction to HTML

By Yemi | 8:15 PM | | Be the first to comment!

HTML is an acronym for hypertext mark up language. this is the language that is usually used to design websites and is the language your browser understands an uses to upload and download data to and from the internet.
Usually when dealing with html, there is usually an open and a closing tag
e.g <b> My name is Olayemi</b>
as u can see from the example above, the <b> in tag means that the content with <b> and </b> is going to appear Bold.
<b> is the opening tag while </b> is the closing tag
without the closing tag, the browser is not going to understand the command and so everything will just appear in plain text instead.
E.g of other html tags are:

<emp> </emp> = italics

<p></p> = paragraph

</H1></H1> = Heading

<H1> Stands for heading tag, and is usually used website heading elements, we have about 6 different heading tags ranging from H1  to H6  with the H1 carrying the highest weight. The heading of your website would usually carry a H1 tag so that your website can easily be indexed by search engines.

The list goes on....theres just so much to talk about, but i think i'll just stop here. If you would like to learn more about html, Just signify your interest in the comment box.  i could easily point you to some materials that would really be helpful of your journey towards mastering HTML. Thank You.

Why you Need To Be More Careful When Using Social Networks.

By Yemi | 9:36 PM | Be the first to comment!

Social media really did hit the world by storm as it made socializing easier and strengthened the bond of friendship btw people regardless of where they are on earth.

There are alot of social media websites today, some of the most common ones are facebook, twitter, linked in, goggle plus pinintrest ...etc
As good as this social networks are, there are also certain things you need to be aware of  and try not to do when using them.

1, Don't give out Personal info About Yourself on Social Networks
Not everybody on social networks are not there to make friends, some of them are there to steal sensitive info that you leave for them on line about you.

Avoid putting things like your full house address, phone numbers any anything that could be used to trace or scam you.

The other day i got a call from someone who called my name and address and then attempted to dupe me with some fake business idea. Thank God for giving me the wisdom to outsmart him. They almost had me convinced because of the familiarity the seemed to have with me.

Also note that Its not everything that happens in your house that is meant to be posted on Facebook or what ever social media you are using.

2 Don't spend your Whole Day on Social Networks
Social media are meant to be some kind of online meeting place where socializing takes place. Unfortunately, some people have turned it to a place of abode, they practically leave their whole lives there, they no longer have time for there studies, and issues pertaining to achieving their life goals.

If you do a little research, you will observe that Academic performance keeps dropping as the years go by, and if we want to be honest with our selves we'll realize that the abuse of social media is partly responsible for this.

Well, i just thought i make a quick post on this issue and i hope someone out there reading this will take this post really seriously and act on which ever area that apply to you.
Take Care.

Why You Don’t Own a Business Up Till Now

By Yemi | 6:50 PM | | Be the first to comment!

If you’ve been around for quite some time you would agree with me that the rate of unemployment in this country Is on the increase even as more and more graduates are being turned out yearly without a facility in place to offer them a job capable of sustaining them and their families.
With the way things are going, sitting down and thinking of what you can do with your own hands may be your best and only option.

The truth of the matter is that nothing beats being your own boss.

Here are some of the advantages

1. You define your own work hours.

When you are your own boss, you get to pick the number of hours a day you work. This gives you more freedom and time for other things. Although you may only begin to enjoy this benefit a few years down the road after your business has been fully established

2. There is no limit to the amount of money you can make.Being your own boss actually makes the sky your limit as there is no ceiling to the amount of money you can make.
Let me tell you something that will shock you, “No employer has the intention of paying his employees enough money to make them rich” yea yea, you heard that right. So you see why doing something other than your salary paying job is the only way to go. I’m not saying you should quit your day job if you already have one and start a business, all I’m saying is that you need to have it at the back of your mind that your salary probably will not give you the breakthrough you require.

3. You don’t have to wait till the end of the month to get paid

One of the things that sucks about a day job is the fact that you have to wait for 30 whole days to get paid your salary which could be really be frustrating …. Trust me, I’ve been there. There is nothing like getting daily turnover, no matter how little it is, it’s still worth something. It has a way of boosting your morale and encouraging you to work harder towards making your business venture more profitable.
So then, why aren’t many people running their own business you may ask?

Well one of the primary reasons I discovered stopping people from starting /owing a business is the fear of starting. Sad but true. You may not want to accept it but deep down you know it’s true.
When you allow fear to grip your mind, you have simply allowed yourself to be stagnated because you would just prefer staying in your comfort zone rather than stepping out and believing that all things will work together for your good.
Even if you start your dream business and fail, you are not considered to be a failure until you stop trying.
Michael Faraday the inventor of the light bulb was said to have failed over 10,000 times before finally getting it right. And when he was asked how he felt about failing over 10,000 times, he replied by saying that he didn’t fail, he only learnt 10,000 ways of not doing it.
Not many of us will be willing to try that much number of times before giving up and who says you are going to fail that many number of times.
There is usually a lot of what Ifs associated with venturing into new territories.
You begin to have thoughts like…… what if it doesn’t work, what if I fail. So let me ask you, what If it works out, and what if you succeed Huh??? I guess you’ll never know until you try.

Martin Luther king jnr II said something that I totally agree with, here it goes “Just take the first step, you don’t have to see the whole stair case just take the first step”
Take a step of faith and start that dream business and just believe that as soon as you start, the universal forces will co-operate with you.

You don’t have to wait until you have those millions before you start, trust me if you do, you’ll probably never start anything.
It’s not a crime to start small, even the Bible tells us not to despise our days of little beginning. It only becomes a crime when you choose to remain small and refuse to grow.
Well with this few points of mine, I hope I’ve been able to open your eyes to the necessity of doing something with your hands and not expecting the government to do everything for you. Thanks.

What Investors Want to see in your Business Plan

By Yemi | 9:49 AM | | Be the first to comment!

Hi everyone, i found this article on NairaLand so i thought i'd  share it with you cos you just might pick a thing or two from it, i hope you enjoy it, Cheers!!!

If you are in the process of raising capital for your business from investors, then you unquestionably need a business plan. A business plan is a critical part of starting any business and serves a number of critical functions. Writing a solid business plan can be a real challenge, however, which is likely how you found yourself here

A good business plan must answer in sufficient details the following 10 questions if it is to meet the expectations of prospective investors and potential business partners.

1.Company Description – What does your company do? What is your mission statement and overall product or service focus?

2.Management Team – Give a brief description of your key employees with respect to leadership, education, background and work experience.

3.Problem Being Solved – What problem is your company solving and how great is the pain or waste?

4.Customers – Who are your potential customers? Does your product or service directly impact your customer’s bottom line?

5.Value Proposition – How much does your customer make or save by using your product or service? What are the benefits to your customer? How long does it take to realize these benefits?

6.Business Opportunity – How does your company make money? Describe the revenue streams, and include a yearly projection of revenue, expenses, EBITDA, net income and funding requirements for the next five years.

7.Uniqueness – How do your customers use your product or service today? Who else does the same thing you are doing today? Who else could be doing it tomorrow?

8.Barriers to Entry – Is your product or service defensible? Are there sufficient barriers to entry? What patents, copyrights, trade secrets, etc. protect your product from duplication?

9.Competitive Differentiation – What is the competitive landscape? Discuss companies that can be viewed as competition in the market segment. Please explain the key points of differentiation between you and your competitors.

10.Scalability – Where might your product grow within your client company (and its supply chain and sales channels) or among client users?

11.Sales and Marketing Strategy – What is the target market size and growth over the next five years? How will you attract customers? What are your distribution channels and how do you plan to achieve market penetration?

12.Strategic Partners – What strategic relationships do you currently have or plan to have in the future? What is the nature of these relationships?

Answering these questions successfully will sufficiently excite a lender or investor about your concept and that will convince them they should fund your business.

Whether you are seeking a bank loan, equity investment from angel investors, venture capital firms or friends and family, you need an Investor Ready business plan. An investor ready business plan is a document that has been professionally prepared to meet the needs of investors.
